Day 12

If I hadn't mentioned it before- my mouth hurts! My gums are very sore and this is all due to the cell breakdown from the Cytoxan. Brushing my teeth feels amazing and definitely provides some temporary relief. The doctors are montioring them closely so that sores do not develop. Other than that, the nausea is still under control, and my legs are still as weak as they have been since this process started.

On another note- my WBC count is finally going up! Today it was .06!! That's up .01 from yesterday. Haha. Obviously not a huge gain, but we are atleast moving in the right direction. I've had 3 shots in total, and expect the trend to continue at a much more rapid pace over the next few days.

I must give a SHOUT OUT to Dr. John (The chemo Dr.) for overseeing my care for the past 2 weeks. His round on this floor is done, and there will be someone new replacing him tomorrow. I hope you visit this blog-feel free to comment- and thanks for understanding "The Graceful Slide"!

My Wonderful Auntie Robin is leaving tomorrow afternoon, so we had one last party in 1026! Giordano pizza is amazing- for any future HiCy-ers. I highly recommend it.

Nighty Night! :)

  1. Auntie Ti Ti,
Heard the day wasn't so great today. Sorry that I couldn't be there to try to make you smile. Had a lot of fun when I was there for a visit. You were a great hostess even though you were sick. You are the stongest person that I know to be going through all of this. Just keep thinking about how wonderful the outcome will be. Pretty soon you will be running throught the house to answer my phone calls. When you get better and can go out we will have to go out for some much needed drinks. We love you and miss you! Love, Shannon, David, Connor, and Jordan

  2. Hi Tracy,
I love your blog now I can hear up to date info on your progress with out having to call Shannon. But there is one thing you are missing a picture of my face on your page lol. I am glad to see that you are eating well. You sound like you are in great spirits. I hope you are sucking on lots of popsicles, I heard that helps (from Sex and the City, which I hope you have seen). You are an amazing person for going through all of this and I know god and your grandma are watching over you and fighting for you:) I hope you have a better day tomorrow and I will be sure to check your status tomorrow. P.S tell your mother that I was only twenty minutes late Sunday morning with coffee in hand (I think that is a record)!!! Love ya and can't wait till you come home! P.S I owe you one crazy night of drinking!!!

  3. Hey Tracy,
I just finished reading your mom's email about your day today. Obviously this one is the toughest by far. I want you to know that, know matter how much you've mentally prepared for this, I know that it doesn't make it any easier. I just finished "talking with the Big Guy upstairs" on your behalf. He and I have been keeping in touch on a daily basis......Don't be afraid to lean on Him and cry out for help.....He is truly there for you, Tra........
All our love goes out to you as you deal with all these symptoms, fevers, etc. Keep fighting, girl! We are proud, proud, proud of you!
    Love,
    Kelly, Dave & girls

  4. Hi Tracy,

It was my pleasure to have the opportunity to participate in providing your care at Rush for the past two weeks. I think your blog is awesome. You're doing a great service to educate MS patients, as well as the general public, about the advances that are being made in the treatment of this devastating disease. I wish you all the best, and hope that any future "slides" will be ever-so-graceful.

    Keep up the good work!

    Dr. John

  5. Hi Tracy,

Sorry to hear from Mom's e-mail that Monday was a bad day. Hopefully today will be better. I know you may be frustrated, but just try to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. You are an amazing young woman and have endured so much with such courage and grace that I believe nothing can stop you now. Know that all of us who know and love you are all hoping and praying (yes even me) for the best outcome possible. This blog is wonderful, I told your Mom that you could be a writer it is so good. Hope to see you and say "hey how you doin" in person soon. Deb sends her best
